Taking place on Saturday mornings, The Bridge is a great chance for you to get ahead with your homework, supplement your school studies and get help from some amazing Cambridge University students who are there to help tackle anything you're curious about or need a little extra help with.
The Bridge runs for Michaelmas and Lent terms (Oct-March) between the hours of 10am -12 noon at Wolfson College, University of Cambridge and ends with a relaxed brunch on campus, which is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the volunteers and the university!
Our student volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds, complementing the wealth of backgrounds represented in the young people attending the club. You do not have to be Black or from a minority ethnic group to attend these sessions or any other CB Mentoring event. Sessions are suitable for secondary school aged students.
We ask that you come to The Bridge with homework or something you intend to work on during the session. Wifi is available if you need to work from a laptop or tablet.

Yes, of course you can. CB Mentoring welcomes people from all ethnicities and backgrounds.
You get the chance to study and complete your homework in a chilled and welcoming environment surrounded by people who are just like you - aiming to excel. Student volunteers from the university and volunteers from CB Mentoring will be there to support your studies. We will sometimes invite guest speakers to come in and give talks on topics that will interest you. The last 30~ minutes consists of us all having brunch together in Wolfson canteen where you can get to know the other young people and student volunteers better.
Please do, we’d love you to visit us as many sessions are you want! As long as you have something to work on, be it further reading, or exploring a concept you found interesting in class, it’s fine. You just need to have enough work to keep you going for the educational part of the sessions.
While we don’t provide worksheets or exercises, our student volunteers can point you to some great online resources that might help! The best part? The work you bring to The Bridge is all yours, so you can focus on what you really want to learn and explore.
We totally understand that sometimes things are out of our control and you need to join in a little late, but we ask that you try to get to The Bridge 10-15 minutes before the 10am start. This way, we can kick things off on time and keep the study session smooth for everyone.
